Lifestyle of Love Blog Hop/ Collecting And Using Antique Frames

Hi, Friends,
I'm so excited that you are here.

A huge thank you to Cindy of County Road 407 for putting this fun hop together.
Cindy is such a wonderful hostess.

If you are coming from Dabbling and Decorating, welcome. I love Ann's fun flea market frames.
I love vintage and antique frames.  They have a rustic, faded beauty and they look so good with other antique pieces.

If the frame is good and old, I'll buy it even if the art inside the frame isn't that great.
I can always change out the print or painting.

Newer frames can be painted and chipped up to look vintage.
Such is the case with the oval frame in the image below.
I worked on the frame and then slipped a very vintage piece of fabric inside.
The fabric is from a doll pillow that I had as a child. My mom may have even used it with her dolls too.
I love pansies and the motif is just so sweet.

Old gold frames are some of my favorites.
A frame without anything in it is still absolutely beautiful.

Frames used in a display don't need to match exactly.
The two pieces below coordinate because the paintings are so similar.

The detail on a painted white frame just pops. Beadboard makes a nice backdrop for a wreath.

There is something to be said for a really fun, old and chippy painting in a chippy old frame.
This gold frame was a curbside find. The painting is one of my favorites.
It hangs above the new fireplace mantel at our new country house.

I've been collecting old paintings for a long time but they are getting harder and harder to find. Oil or acrylic, it doesn't matter as long as the subject matter is good. So much of the look in an old painting is the old frame.

I love to hang old frames with just a snippet of ribbon.

Adirondack Black Forest frames with a leaf design are some of my favorite frames. They add such a cozy cabin vibe. They are adorable during the fall and at Christmas.

I also love the granny chic French provincial frames that were popular in the 50s and 60s.
Most of mine were found for a dollar or two. It's hard to find them that cheap now.
I've switched out the prints in these too.

I keep a stash of empty frames in the garage for use in different vignettes or displays. It's been fun going through them in order to figure out what is going out to our new country house.
That is all for now.
Be sure to visit my friend, Michelle over at The Painted Hinge to see how she is using frames in her home.
Finally, be sure visit all the links in the hop.
